Technical Description of Durma Servo Controlled Press Brakes

Mainframe & Components

  • ST44 steel (certified)
  • Reduced deflection and increased rigidity
  • High strength welds
  • Strong and long life body
  • Durability under high pressure and etc.
  • All welded parts subsequently stress relieved
  • All stress points machines with large radius to prevent fracture or failure
  • All machining to tight tolerance
  • All welded components stress relieved after welding
  • For minimum deflection, upper ram is made with extra height and mass
  • Cylinders and piston seats are aligned to distribute in line vertical loads.
  • Hydraulic cylinders are double acting design and honed to tolerance with 2 micron surface finish for superior sealing and reduced wear. Cylinder body is produced with SAE 1050 material.
  • Hydraulic cylinders bolted to large precision machined mounting surface with interlocking wedges for extra stability.
  • The hydraulic o-rings and seals are supplied by Merkel and Busak
  • The pistons are precision ground and chrome hardened to reduce friction and premature wear.
  • The adjustable ram guides are fitted with Ulpolen material with low friction. Guides mounted to provide both front to back and left to right guiding.
  • Oversized manifold with minimum piping and fittings to reduce overheating and guaranteeing maximum performance and reliability.

Mainframe & Components (cont)

  • Durma’s load sensing hydraulic system provides accuracy and repeatability whether at minimum (2% to 3%) or maximum pressure.  This also reduces risk of overloading tools during setup, as well obtaining minimum and maximum accurate pressure values. High quality pressure valves provide precise cylinder positioning and synchronization.
  • The hydraulic system is continuously protected form overload through the use of fail safe pressure limits. This also provides the CNC a programmed pressure security limit.
  • Hydraulic pipes with a five times safety factor are used.
  • All electrical valves are controlled with 24V DC.
  • Electric system utilizes PLC technology. The PLC system replaces older style mechanical relays and maintains resistance. Response time for critical components such as valves, servos, motors and etc. is minimized.
  • Status of hydraulic and electrical, both active and non active, functions can be observed with the PLC control. Inputs and outputs as well error messages can be easily viewed on screen.
  • Automatic power management for main motor and hydraulic group helps conserve power usage.
  • All CNC controlled axes are closed loop AC servo drive giving optimum performance and continuous monitoring of actual positioning and relative speed.
  • The back gauge is manufactured accordingly to the environmental standards.  It is of the dual carriage type, guided by large dual Thompson guides and oversized dual pitch precision ball screws for heavy applications.
  • To protect against the weather the machines outside is painted at least twice with main color of 60 micron thickness.
  • The standard axis production is Y1, Y2, and X.

Operation and Programming

  • Automatic ram leveling / parallelism using dual linear encoders mounted at each end of the ram. Rams parallelism is CNC controlled by the servo valve at every position of stroke. Top table parallelism in every stroke position maintained by servo valves controlled by CNC control unit.
  • Ram movement is fully optimized with all positions, speeds, dwells, and tilts fully being fully programmable.

Operation and Programming (cont)

  • Program set-up time is minimized with part bend simulation prior to bending. Part crashes and poor tooling selection are signaled on screen. The following calculations are made automatically;
    • bend angle
    • bend sequence
    • bend allowance
    • top stop position
    • speed change point
    • sheared blank size.
  • Improper tooling and part crash messages appear on screen when improperly programmed or if the part is not possible to be made with programmed tooling or machine frame limitations.
  • Direct interpolation from inch or metric.
  • Direct interpolation of ten different languages.
  • Linear encoders for Y1 and Y2 are supplied by Heidenhein or Givi Measure.

(programming features are for Delem DA56 level and up)

Hydraulic System

  • O-rings and seals are made by Busak Shamban or Merkel (Germany)
  • Omegat’s latest technology in seals
